Alemannic Leather Belt with Silver Coloured Buckle
This replica of a Germanic belt features a buckle modelled on an original piece from the 5th or the 6th century A.D. found in an Almanac grave near Balingen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany).
The belt is made of black, approx. 4 cm wide and 4 mm thick cowhide. It is approx. 165 cm long and can thus be worn tied in a knot, as it was common practice in the early Middle Ages.
The belt holes for the prong are pre-set between approx. 92 and 107 cm from the buckle. However, the circumference can be easily adjusted to larger or smaller size by punching additional holes with punch pliers.
The buckle of this Alemannian belt is made of die-cast Zamak, an alloy essentially composed of zinc with small amounts of aluminum, magnesium and copper as alloying elements. Its name is an acronym of the German names of its constituents:Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, Kupfer.
