Our chainmail coif blackened finish has a square mouth guard and is constructed using butted rings. The blackened surface of the rings of the coif provides protection from corrosion. 
The chain mail coif is woven 4 in 1 and covers the shoulder completely and has an authentic square facial opening which can be partialy covered using the square mouth guard and secured with the attached leather straps sewn to the sides. The mouth guard has been padded inside and fitted with leather for comfort. This kind of chain mail coif was very popular in the High Middle Ages with the Normans or Crusaders.
