German 16th C. Gothic War Hammer with Dagger Head
The hammer or “maul”, is one of the oldest Germanic weapons . Used by the cavalry from the 13th century . The war hammer could break through the heavy steel armour making it a very useful weapon.
This hammer’s shape represents a dagger in a closed fist and is made of brass . The " dagger " , which is composed of the hammer head and spine is made of steel .
The shaft of the hammer is made of wood and has a brass ring on the end of the handle.
