Klappvisier Bascinet 1370 AD

Original displayed in the Valeria Museum in Switzerland
FacebookTwitterYoutubePinterest
Our Klappvisier Bascinet is a reconstruction following an original from approx. 1370 a.d.
The original Klappvisier Bascinet is displayed in the Valeria Museum, Sitten, Swizerland.
The Klappvisier Bascinet helmet evolved from the skull cap or cervelliere during the early 14th century.
It's visor is attached with a hinge at the front center and is removeable.
It is therefore often called "klappvisor bascinet".
This helmet is handmade from 2 mm steel plate, riveted and welded.
The fine workmanship ensures sturdiness and therefore the best possible protection during battle reenactment.
Inside the helmet is a comfortable, padded cloth liner.
The brass rivets at the sides are for attachment of an aventail for chest and shoulders.
Our line of aventails are available in various mail patterns and may be found in the chain mail section.
