Nasal Helmet with Celtic Motifs-Antique Steel -1.2mm Steel
Steel Nasal Helmet with Celtic Motifs, Antiqued
The cone-shaped nasal helmet we offer here is crafted from 1.2 mm steel and finished with an antiqued, dark patina. It has an approx. 3 mm thick brown leather chin strap with brass buckle. The zoomorphic eyebrows and nose are made of antiqued brass and fixed onto the base of the bowl with round rivets. The helmet's interior has a leather liner.
This helm is not an authentic reproduction of an original historical example but rather a fine Fantasy piece of Celtic, Norse and Norman inspiration. While its overall shape (conical bowl, nose guard) is a reminder of the Early and High Medieval Norman helmets, the distinctive animal-shaped brows and nose are modelled on Celtic/Norse patterns. Especially the knot work serpents or dragons are a recurring motif in Celtic and Norse/Viking art.
