Pirate's Coat Edward, Justaucorps, Brown
The Justaucorps or Justacorps first emerged in the 17th century as part of a military uniform and eventually found their way into civilian dress. Features of this particular coat is the close fitting front, a flared back skirt and a dividing seam along the waist. It is assumed that the pirates first took them from the genteel tradesmen and merchants and then made them a customary part of their own wardrobe.
This pirate's coat is made of strong cotton canvas and fully lined inside. Appliquéd trimmings, high-quality metal dome buttons, large cuffs and pockets with generously sized flaps give the coat that authentic pirate look. Close fitting at the front, and the skirt slightly flares at the back. Combine the coat with plain cotton trousers, a medieval shirt and a wide leather belt, and you have the perfect pirate costume.
