Roman Relief Primitius Bowl from Clay, Height 15cm, Weight 1kg
This Bowl has been produced in long and complex procedures of handcraft
in Germany. It is made as the original would have been. The clay is from the German region of Rheinzabern.
It is prepared in the old Roman style without the use of filter-presses. After the preparation the clay is thrown on the potter’s wheel or is turned in form bowls.
At the point of becoming leathery the pieces are decorated in a typical way. These kind of pictured bowls were used during the second half of the
2nd Century up to the 3rd Century for serving and storing food, and also as a mixing vessel for water and wine.
